Hewing Wittare CIC is an artist‑led social enterprise based inDursley in the Cotswolds — creating space for community, inclusion and experimentation in the arts. We support, fund and deliver creative projects rooted in care, community and imagination.
We believe creativity belongs to everyone. Our mission is to break down barriers in the arts — especially for under‑represented or marginalised artists and communities — by providing fair access to opportunities, resources and creative platforms.
We run and support a range of locally grounded creative activity, including community‑led workshops, exhibitions, public events and micro‑festivals.
Hewing Wittare CIC is a Community Interest Company: we operate not for private profit, but principally for community benefit. Any surplus is reinvested into our projects and the communities we serve.About
It all started when…
…we were living and working in London, surrounded by creativity — but watching so many brilliant, imaginative people being priced out, shut out, or told art wasn’t for them.
We knew there had to be another way.
So we started Hewing Wittare: first as a way to carve out space for emerging artists in unexpected places, and now as a Community Interest Company rooted in the Cotswolds — supporting inclusive, artist-led projects that spark imagination and build community.
Today, we support projects like Let’s Create (unstructured creative play for families) and Offbeat Dursley (a grassroots micro-festival), proving that bold, beautiful creativity can thrive anywhere — not just in the big cities.
