Let’s Create — Unstructured Activities to Encourage Imagination
(A Hewing Wittare CIC Programme)
Let’s Create is…
…one of Hewing Wittare’s flagship community projects — a joyful, pressure-free space where children and young people can explore, experiment and express themselves through unstructured creative play.
Hosted by Georgie and Alex and rooted in Playwork Principles, Let’s Create gives toddlers to teens — and their grown-ups — time, space and freedom to make, build, paint, cut, stick, invent and imagine. There are no instructions, no expectations and no “right” way to be creative. Just cardboard, tape, paint, recycled materials and the encouragement to follow your own ideas.
Why It Matters
At a time when many families face financial pressure, limited local options and increasing reliance on screens, Let’s Create offers:
Accessible, low-cost creativity through our Pay-What-You-Can and “Session for Sam” model
A safe, inclusive space for all ages and abilities
Support for wellbeing, connection and confidence
Planet-friendly play, using recycled and reclaimed materials
Real creative agency, where kids lead and adults step back
Let’s Create has now been running for three years and has become a loved, lively community hub for families across Stroud — a place to meet, imagine, rest, belong and make a glorious mess.
A Space for Everyone
Whether a child wants to paint the same piece of cardboard brown for an hour, build an impossible machine out of tubes and tape, or collaborate on a giant cardboard world, they are free to explore at their own pace.
Young people shape the space — and the creative confidence they build is long-lasting.
Alongside our regular sessions across Stroud, we also create bespoke pop-up versions of Let’s Create for:
schools
festivals
community groups
family days
youth clubs
Every session adapts to its setting, while staying true to the heart of Let’s Create: freedom, play and imagination.
